Because of the increasing costs associated with college tuition a
growing number of parents and students are both looking for ways to help
pay for the continuation of their education. For many, easy
scholarships for college and grants are what they are looking for to
lessen the sting of high tuition costs.
By now I am sure you have been told countless time what you can do to help improve your odds at getting your hands on some of money for yourself. Well, it's time we look at the other side of the coin and find out what it is you can do to severely limit your chances if not outright keep yourself from getting some scholarship and grant money for college.
1. Do not follow directions. This is something some people have a problem with all their lives. Other simply do not take the time to actually read what the directions say well enough to understand what to and not to do.
2. Fail to double check your work, focusing on grammar and spelling. Sure, not everyone of us is a English major or a champion speller, but if you fail to double check your work to make sure you don't have any of these mistakes or you are just asking for your application to thrown into the recycle bin.
3. Fail to reply or turn in paperwork on time. Simply put, this is why these items have a date on all of them when they are due to be handed in by. Do this and your paperwork won't even make it to the committee members, it will be thrown out before it reaches them.
4. Fail to get involved, either in your community or with after school programs. While it is not necessarily something that is required by many easy scholarships for college programs, spending time with these programs will greatly increase your chances at getting accepted into scholarship and grant programs.
5. Lastly, simply don't apply! This is one of the biggest things you can do that will with 100% effectiveness keep you from easy scholarship and grant money. No matter if you feel there are just no programs out there just for you or if you feel there won't be enough money to go around This is like I mentioned previously the one thing that will stop your chances at getting a scholarship or grant. If you do not apply you will not get one.
