'Making the Future' Program

There’s an education crisis in the U.S.: a relative decline in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) proficiency, fewer young people interested in STEM fields, and – perhaps most alarming – a decline in measured creativity. The future competitiveness and innovative capacity of the U.S., the quality of our workforce, and the prosperity of future generations are at risk.
Cognizant’s Making the Future education initiative was created to unleash the passion of young people in STEM disciplines by creating fun, hands-on learning opportunities. Through financial, in-kind and volunteer support for schools and nonprofits; advocacy; college scholarships; and our flagship Making the Future After-School and Summer Program, Cognizant seeks to develop 21st century skills like creativity, innovation, and collaboration that will create a brighter future for our children, preparing them to be tomorrow’s leaders in our global economy.

What kinds of scholarships are available?

Some scholarships for college are merit-based. You earn them by meeting or exceeding certain standards set by the scholarship-giver.

Many scholarships are geared toward particular groups of people; for instance, there are scholarships for women or high school seniors. And some are available because of where you or your parent work, or because you come from a certain background (for instance, there are scholarships for military families).

How does a scholarship affect my other student aid?

A scholarship will affect your other student aid because all your student aid added together can’t be more than your cost of attendance at your college or career school.

So, you’ll need to let your school know if you’ve been awarded a scholarship so that the financial aid office can subtract that amount from your cost of attendance (and from certain other aid, such as loans, that you might have been offered).

Then, any amount left can be covered by other financial aid for which you’re eligible. Questions? Ask your financial aid office.

Academic Excellence Scholarship

How do I get my scholarship money?

That depends on the scholarship. The money might go directly to your college, where it will be applied to any tuition, fees, or other amounts you owe,
and then any leftover funds given to you. Or it might be sent directly to you in a check.
The scholarship provider should tell you what to expect when it informs you that you’ve been awarded the scholarship. If not, make sure to ask.

How do I apply for scholarships?

Each scholarship has its own requirements.

The scholarship’s website should give you an idea of who qualifies for the scholarship and how to apply. Make sure you read the application carefully,
fill it out completely,
and meet the application deadline.

When do I apply for scholarships?

That depends on each scholarship’s deadline. Some deadlines are as early as a year before college starts, so if you’re in high school now,

you should be researching and applying for scholarships during the summer between your junior and senior years. But if you’ve missed that window,

don’t give up! Look at scholarship information to see which ones you can still apply for now.

Schools and Majors Share Print

Air Force ROTC offers scholarships in all academic majors necessary to meet Air Force needs. These needs can change from year to year.

You should carefully consider the academic majors you put on your application. You may list one,

two or three academic majors, but you should list only academic majors you would be willing to pursue.

How do I find scholarships?

You can learn about scholarships in several ways, including contacting the financial aid office at the school you plan to attend and checking information in a public library or online. But be careful. Make sure scholarship information and offers you receive are legitimate; and remember that you don't have to pay to find scholarships or other financial aid. Scholarship Zone scholarship

It seems nearly every website wants you to register. It’s not enough to simply use a site’s service from time to time, apparently. But not many sites offer as great a possible reward as Scholarship Zone does.

By simply registering for the website
(which requires answering less than 15 basic questions about yourself),
you’re automatically entered for the next scholarship drawing of $10,000. You’re really not obligated to do anything after that, though you now get to take advantage of the website’s resources. But hey, are you at least 18 and in college?
Then why not take two minutes to apply?

It can take a huge load off your tuition bill.

Don’t let student loan debt unnecessarily pile up. The excuse of not being qualified for scholarships can work for certain scholarships but not for these ones.
Laziness, in this case, can cost you thousands of dollars. Take a few minutes out of your day and rake in that dough.

Easy Scholarships ?? - what is scholarships ?

Easy scholarships are what we're all looking for, aren't they? Scholarship money is great, and easy scholarship money is even better. So how do you find easy scholarships? And how can you tell if an "easy" scholarship is really easy?

First, let's ask the obvious question: what are easy scholarships? We know what scholarships are: free money for college! We can agree on that. But how do you define easy? After all, something you find easy might be excruciatingly difficult or boring for another person--for example, I think calculating a tip at a restaurant is simple, but to one of my best friends, it's impossible without a calculator. Then how can we tell you what the easy scholarships are if we don't know what you consider easy? Well, let's start with a basic definition. Whether the amount is $5,000 or $50, easy scholarships are scholarships whose awards are more than worth the effort involved in competing. Hopefully, the effort will be minimal or at least enjoyable, and hopefully you'll actually stand a good chance at winning scholarships you find easy. All of these factors go into determining what makes a scholarship contest not only worth entering (because many difficult things are worth doing), but actually something you'd consider easy.

These scholarships are offered to UK/EU and overseas fee-paying SOAS students,
thanks to the generosity of the Fereydoun Djam Charitable Trust,
who has provided a contribution towards fees of between £3,000 and £13,000 each year for the duration of the award.
Details about the application process can be accessed at the SOAS scholarship website.

The Centre for Iranian Studies Chair Arshin Adib-Moghaddam welcomed the “unique and generous” opportunity that the scholarships provide.
The Kamran Djam scholarships are a part of a decisive push for Iranian Studies at SOAS facilitated by the Centre for Iranian Studies at the London Middle East Institute (LMEI).

The Centre was established in 2010 and draws upon the range of academic research and teaching across the disciplines of SOAS,
including Languages and Literature, the Study of Religions, History, Economics, Politics,
International Relations, Music, Art and Media and Film Studies. The Centre aims to build close relations with likeminded institutions and
to showcase and foster the best of contemporary Iranian talent in art and culture. The members of CIS have spearheaded the establishment of the first interdisciplinary Master in Iranian Studies which will be offered,
 fully equipped with scholarships,
from the academic year 2013/2014 onwards.
